St.Martin’s Mark No.959 – What a happy meeting!

Posted by Martin Grahame-Dunn under Mark & RAM Events, News

Last night (Thursday 21st September) the members of St.Martin’s Lodge of Mark Master Masons installed RW Bro. Andrew Sweeney PGJW, GMRAC Hon.Causa as its Master. The ceremony was performed wonderfully by outgoing Master W.Bro.Chris Boston who asked his brother, VW Bro.David Boston to act as IPM and Chaplain. The evening was presided over by our Provincial Grand Master who was attended upon by a number of his acting Provincial Officers including The Provincial Senior Warden, W.Bro.James Ashmore; Provincial Grand Master Overseer, W.Bro.Mick Tarrant; W.Bro.Bill Roberts, Provincial Grand Steward and myself as DC. Also in attendance were three other Very Worshipful’s – Keith Holdsworth, Stan Smith and Cliff Hadley. What a fine bunch!

What made this evening special for me was to see a number of great Mark friends I had not seen for some time. The spirit of the Mark was wonderfully demonstrated as both members and visitors chipped in to fill the important roles and make it such a great meeting. The festive board was splendid, the meal extremely good (as usual) and the company, marvellous. W.Bro.James Ashmore the Prov.GSW and W,Bro.Mick Tarrant celebrated their last evening out together as acting principal officers. (It was hard to prise them apart!).

W.Bro’s Mick Tarrant and James Ashmore. Brothers in arms (literally!)

Our returning PGM, Roger sat with RW.Bro. Andrew and RW Bro. Bob Russell whom he had brought as a guest. It was great to see RW Bro.Bob who was in fine form reminiscing with RW Bro Roger about the two Ambulances he received on behalf of the Mark Degree some 16 years ago, just as we are about to receive another one in January 2018. With just a few weeks left and a few more meetings under the presidency of our much loved PGM, I personally urge as many of ‘his’ officers as possible in the closing weeks up until the end of October. How ‘swan song’ will be the annual ‘In and Out’ lunch for the new Provincial team where this year it is likely will be opened up to everyone.

I’m not sure what the collective noun is for three Right Worshipful’s of this calibre? RW.Bro’s.Bob (what a handsome chap for 90!), Andrew and Roger celebrating another marvellous meeting.

Looking forward to seeing you all very soon at our very special Provincial Meeting on the 18th November where we will see a new PGM, Deputy and Assistant installed over this ‘premier’ Province.
